April 2025 has set an absolute record in the arrival of travelers to city hotels. According to the Hotel Occupancy Survey of the National Institute of Statistics, a total of 64,163 travelers visited Salamanca, representing an increase of 12.01% compared to April 2024.
This growth surpasses the one recorded in Castilla y León (+11.59%) and almost doubles the national level increase (+6.74%). It is important to note that these figures are not entirely comparable since in 2024, the celebration of Easter coincided in March. However, the number of travelers in April 2025 is 1.6% higher than in April 2023, coinciding in this case with Easter.
Both national and international travelers have also seen significant growth. National travelers were 37,503, with an increase of 13.37% compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, international travelers also set a record, with 26,660, a 10.15% increase from 2024, surpassing for the first time the 25,000 foreign travelers mark in April.
In addition, the total overnight stays in April 2025 reached 106,611, an 8.23% increase from 2024, making it the second best figure behind 2023. It is worth noting that national overnight stays, 66,289, represent a 10.19% increase, while international stays, 40,322, set an absolute record for April, surpassing 40,000 nights for the first time.
The hotel occupancy rate in April reached 58.3%, rising to 74.06% during weekends, reflecting the growing tourism demand. The average stay for travelers was 1.66 nights, with national tourists staying slightly longer (1.77 nights) than international ones (1.51 nights).
In the cumulative data for the year 2025, the number of travelers from January to April set a record in the city’s history, surpassing 2023, which was the previous milestone. During these months, 196,544 travelers visited the city, a 2.59% increase from 2024 and 1.50% more than in 2023. National travelers were 126,048, 2.59% more than in 2024, while international travelers were 70,496, 2.61% more than the previous year. This last figure also sets a record in the city’s history.
The total overnight stays from January to April 2025 were 331,458, 1.49% less than in 2024. National overnight stays were 221,486, 0.89% less than in the same period of 2024, while international stays were 109,972, 2.68% less than the previous year.
The mentioned survey only records hotel overnight stays. However, it is important to note that the occupancy survey for tourist apartments in the province showed an increase in overnight stays from January to March 2025, with a 26.6% rise compared to the same period in 2024, and a 47.8% increase from the same period in 2023. This indicates a positive trend in overnight stays across tourist accommodations in the province.
Finally, the significance of Salamanca in the Autonomous Community is noteworthy, as the travelers arriving in the city represent 13.84% of all visitors in Castilla y León. In terms of overnight stays, this figure is 13.52%. It is important to mention that the equal weight of each province (not city) would be 11.11%. Salamanca maintains its leadership as the top destination for travelers and overnight stays in Castilla y León, significantly ahead of other cities.
