The Minister of Mobility and Digital Transformation, José Luis Sanz Merino, accompanied by the Director General of Roads and Infrastructures, Jesús Puerta, visited today the works being carried out on the ZA-604 between Bóveda de Toro and Cañizal, with an intervention on 19.6 kilometers of the road and a budget exceeding 5.6 million euros. The forecast is for the modernization works on this regional road to be completed in the first quarter of 2026.

The modernization actions on the platform and pavement are being carried out on a road that connects the towns of La Bóveda de Toro and Cañizal in Zamora through Fuentelapeña. «The project also includes the improvement of the pedestrian access road to the cemetery of La Bóveda and the renovation of the Fuentelapeña section,» explained Sanz Merino.

The intervention, divided into several phases, expands the width of the platform, replaces the pavement with a new layer of bituminous mixture with a percentage of recycled rubber, replaces accesses, horizontal and vertical signaling, bollards, and renovates the drainage system.

Since the beginning, the works have focused on the first section, between La Bóveda de Toro and Fuentelapeña, where earthworks and drainage have been carried out.

Currently, the pavement base of the widening is being executed. For the execution of the works, it was necessary to close the circulation of the first section (La Bóveda de Toro-Fuentelapeña), which has been opened to traffic today.

The Minister recalled «the commitment of the Junta de Castilla y León to the conservation of the regional road network,» the largest in Spain, with 11,500 kilometers, 1,139 of which are in the province of Zamora, betting on innovation and digitalization of the same, with the aim that the current Strategy responds to the needs of these roads.
