The registration is now open to participate in the creative workshop around the universe of Carmen Martín Gaite, led by María Folguera on April 26th at Torre de los Anaya. This activity is part of the program developed by the City Council to commemorate the centenary of the birth of the Salamancan writer.
María Folguera will offer a session on imagination and the relationship with time in Carmen Martín Gaite’s writing. Participants in this workshop will read excerpts from her texts, engage in creative exercises – open to all formats – and explore the world of Gaite. Prior knowledge of Carmen Martín Gaite’s work is not necessary to participate.
Registration is free and can be done by sending an email to cpt@ciudaddecultura.org starting on April 1st. Registrations will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
María Folguera
María Folguera is a writer and cultural manager. In 2024, she premiered as a playwright with the theatrical adaptation of ‘El cuarto de atrás’ by Carmen Martín Gaite, on tour. She is currently preparing the publication of her fourth novel. Among her most recent works are the novel ‘Hermana’ (Placer) for Alianza and the plays ‘Marcela’ (a song of Cervantes) with Leticia Dolera and Celia Freijeiro (2024), ‘Picasso’ (king, monster, and clown) for Rhum y Cía (2023), and ‘Safo’ (production by Focus with Christina Rosenvinge and Marta Pazos, 2022).
She directs and writes the diptych ‘Sendero Fortún’ for the Centro Dramático Nacional (2019-2020) and ‘La guerra según Santa Teresa’, premiered at the Madrid Autumn Festival in 2018. Her work appears in various narrative anthologies. She studied Stage Direction at RESAD and Literary Theory at the Universidad Complutense. From 2018 to 2023, she was the artistic director of the Teatro Circo Price in Madrid.
