The health minister, Alejandro Vázquez Ramos, visited the construction site of the new Prosperidad Health Center in Salamanca on Monday, announcing that the government will invest approximately 75 million euros to improve hospital services and create two new health centers in the city.
The Prosperidad Health Center has been awarded a contract worth 8,361,012 euros, in addition to 248,406 euros for project drafting, adaptation, and project management, and 430,000 euros for installation planning. This project is part of the multi-year program of the General Directorate of Quality and Health Infrastructure of the Regional Health Management, representing an investment of nearly 75 million euros for Salamanca.
The establishment of the new health center will improve the distribution of health cards from the Garrido Sur and Alamedilla, Universidad-Centro centers, and also balance the patient quotas of San Juan and San Bernardo-Oeste.
The Prosperidad Health Center, as Vázquez added, will feature an entrance area with a reception desk with four service points, an administrative office, and a filing system. In the medical area, there will be ten family medicine consultation rooms, each with its corresponding nursing consultation, as well as specialized rooms for ultrasound, retinography, spirometry, minor surgery, and wound care, all with their respective waiting areas. Additionally, there will be two pediatric consultation rooms, along with pediatric nursing consultation rooms, a breastfeeding room, and four multipurpose consultation rooms.
The center will also have an extraction and laboratory room with its own waiting area, as well as an administrative support area with offices for the social worker, center coordinator, and nursing supervisor, a meeting-library room, and a training room.
Among the services highlighted by the minister is the Women’s Care Unit, which will include a mammogram, midwife consultation, multipurpose room, dressing room, and waiting area. A Physiotherapy Unit will also be established, equipped with a consultation room, treatment room, dressing room, and waiting area.
NEW HEALTH CENTER IN SAN JOSÉ-ZURGUÉN
On the other hand, the Regional Health Management has published a tender for the drafting of the basic and execution project, project management, and safety and health coordination of the new San José-Zurguén Health Center, with a contract value of 329,650 euros. The project is currently in the bidding phase before its award.
The contract will have a six-month execution period to draft the basic and execution projects. With an approximate area of 2,500 square meters (1,679 usable meters), the investment is estimated to exceed 5 million euros and provide assistance to 12,595 health cards, as stated by the Ministry of Health in a press release collected by Europa Press.
The new infrastructure will improve accessibility and proximity, aiming to meet the healthcare and functional demands of the San José Basic Health Zone, benefiting residents of this neighborhood as well as El Zurguén, La Vega, El Tormes, and El Teso de la Feria. The building will prioritize humanizing spaces for all individuals.
The project also includes a 107 m2 Women’s Care Unit with a midwife consultation room with dressing and restroom, a multipurpose room, a specific storage area, a waiting room, and a restroom-adapted dressing room. Additionally, 143 m2 will be allocated to the new Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Unit, featuring a consultation room, a kinesiotherapy room, three treatment booths, storage, dressing rooms, and a waiting area.
Finally, the building will have a 145 m2 Basic Life Support Unit, operating independently from the health center. This unit will have a living area, rest area, restrooms and dressing rooms, laundry room, storage, and decontamination area.
