Castilla y León | Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Employment
The Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Employment has today published the call for grants for the safe removal and replacement of lightweight asbestos roofs in workplaces in the Community. This call, with an initial budget of 3,000,000 euros, is part of the set of measures developed by the Junta de Castilla y León to improve working conditions and safety in the community’s work environments, in line with the agreements of the Social Dialogue.
Coordinating with this call, the Director General of Labor and Occupational Risk Prevention, José Manuel Barrios, visited today in Salamanca the work carried out by the company Construcciones Eléctricas Jara for the removal of asbestos in its facilities. An intervention that has received financial support from the Junta de Castilla y León through last year’s call.
Support for the business fabric to advance in occupational safety and health
During the visit, Barrios highlighted the importance of these grants from the regional government to facilitate the removal of this material by companies, thus creating safer and healthier workspaces. He also emphasized that the safety and health of workers are a priority for the Ministry, in this sense, the removal of asbestos materials directly benefits the health of workers and the modernization of our companies.
The grants are aimed at individuals, legal entities, communities of goods, and other entities with workplaces in Castilla y León that want to carry out the removal and replacement of this type of roofing. Actions must be carried out by specialized companies registered in the Asbestos Risk Companies Register (RERA), thus guaranteeing the safe removal of these materials and their proper replacement with new, resistant, walkable, and asbestos-free roofs.
The grant program will finance 85% of the cost of asbestos removal, with a limit of 10 euros per square meter and 30,000 euros per workplace. Additionally, up to 50% of the expenses for the installation of the new roof will be subsidized, with a limit of 40 euros per square meter and up to 20,000 euros per workplace.
Eligible works are those carried out or to be carried out between September 3, 2024, and August 15, 2025. Interested companies may submit one application per workplace and up to two applications per beneficiary. The deadline for submitting applications will be two months, starting from tomorrow, ending on the first working day following the publication of the call.
In addition, to inform all interested parties about the details of the call, a webinar will be held next Wednesday, starting at 10:30 a.m., open to all interested parties. The link to participate in this meeting is available on the Work and Prevention portal within the Junta de Castilla y León’s website.
