CSIF volunteers clean up Las Antanicas environment
Fifty volunteers from the independent CSIF union participated in the cleaning of the Salamancan environment of Las Antanicas, in Doñinos, an activity framed within the Libera Project and in collaboration with the City Council, on the occasion of World Environment Day.
The initiative, carried out under this year’s theme ‘No pollution by plastics’, aimed to contribute to the fight against pollution and raise awareness among the population about the importance of conserving the natural environment, as reported by union sources.
As a «socially responsible» entity, CSIF has emphasized that its work «not only focuses on defending workers’ labor rights but also works in areas such as environmental awareness». On this occasion, the Las Antanicas area was chosen to showcase that promoting employment and environmental protection are complementary and «fully compatible» activities.
The Doñinos City Council previously conducted a workshop that cleaned, conditioned, and re-naturalized the area, providing it with new infrastructures. CSIF has now joined this initiative with the participation of its volunteers, according to a statement from the union reported by Europa Press.
During the day, the participants walked through the area and adjacent paths, especially those connecting the urban center with the reclaimed natural space, collecting waste that was later deposited in appropriate containers.
The activity also involved members of the municipal Corporation, who helped with the collection tasks and supported the commitment to promote a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
