Premio Castilla y León del Deporte 2024 para Enrique Pascual Oliva

The jury has unanimously valued his work as a specialized athletics coach in long and middle distance events and his role as a key element in the promotion of athletics in the province of Soria and in Castilla y León.

Enrique Pascual Oliva has been recognized with the Castilla y León Sports Award 2024. The jury has unanimously agreed to award him the prize, highlighting «the long sports career of the awardee as a coach, who has been a key element in the promotion of athletics in the province of Soria and in Castilla y León, providing exceptional sports results, materialized in the achievement of the main triumphs in Olympic, national, and international competitions of this discipline.»

Furthermore, the jury has valued that the awardee «has also developed his career in Castilla y León from the province of Soria, at the facilities of the High Training and Sports Promotion Center of the province,» so it also wanted to highlight «the commitment and collaboration of the local, regional, and provincial administrations for the achievement of the brilliant results recognized through the award.»

The jury, whose appointment is made by the Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Sports among people of recognized prestige in the sports world, has been composed of Alejandro Nicolás Sarmiento, general director of the Congress and Auditorium Palace Fórum Evolución Burgos-Promueve Burgos; Belén Sánchez, canoeist awarded with the Castilla y León Sports Award 2023; Laudelino Cubino, former cyclist; Elena Gutiérrez, president of the Sports Press Association of Segovia; Virginia Ruano, director of the Castilla y León Tennis Open Villa de El Espinar, and Alfredo Stampa, who has served as secretary.

The Castilla y León Sports Award aims to recognize the work of those individuals or entities that have stood out the most for the sports activity carried out or for their contribution to the promotion of sports in the Community of Castilla y León.

The awardees so far since the creation of this category of the Castilla y León Awards in 2003 are: Perico Delgado, in 2003; Abel Antón Rodrigo and Fermín Cacho, in 2004; Ángel Nieto, in 2005; Marta Domínguez, in 2006; Miriam Blasco Soto, in 2007; Carlos Sastre Candil, in 2008; Vicente del Bosque, in 2009; Isaac Viciosa, in 2010; Club Baloncesto Perfumerías Avenida, in 2011; Manuel Martínez Gutiérrez, in 2012; VRAC and Club Rugby El Salvador, in 2013; Club Baloncesto Silla de Ruedas Valladolid, in 2014; Carlos Soria, in 2015; Lydia Valentín Pérez, in 2016; Juan Antonio García Lorenzana «Juanín» and Fernando Hernández Casado, in 2017; Grupo de Piragüistas de Castilla y León, in 2018; Mariano Haro, in 2020; Marta Fernández Infante, in 2021; Carolina Rodríguez Ballesteros in 2022, and Belén Sánchez Jiménez in 2023.

The Castilla y León Awards, convened annually since 1984, aim to recognize the work of those individuals, groups, or entities that contribute to the exaltation of the values of the Castilian and Leonese Community, or that, carried out by Castilian and Leonese people, inside or outside the territorial scope of the Community, represent a notable contribution to universal knowledge. These Awards have six other categories in addition to the Castilla y León Sports Award: Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation Award, Literature Award, Arts Award, Human and Social Values Award, Social Sciences and Humanities Award, and Bullfighting Award.
