Doctor Miguel Ángel Ortiz de Valdivielso has been appointed today as the new managing director of the Hemotherapy and Blood Donation Center of Castilla y León (Chemcyl), replacing Lydia Blanco, who has been in charge of this institution since 2008.

Born in Burgos, Miguel Ángel Ortiz de Valdivielso holds a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Valladolid, and is a specialist in Gynecology and Obstetrics. His resume also includes being a Specialist in Hospital Management from the University of Valladolid, as well as a Specialist in International Health Area Management from the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
He also holds a degree in Business Administration from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and his academic background includes the Senior Management Program from IESE. He is also a European Expert in Quality Management in the Health Sector.
The new head of the Hemotherapy and Blood Donation Center of Castilla y León (Chemcyl), who was the president of the Castilla y León Society of Hospital Directors and Managers, was serving as a technical advisor in the Regional Health Management before his appointment, and has over 28 years of experience leading healthcare facilities, having directed the Santiago Apóstol Hospital in Miranda de Ebro, the University Assistance Complex of Palencia, the University Hospital of Burgos, and the Health Management Area of Jerez de la Frontera.
In addition, he has been a board member of the Spanish Society of Health Managers (SEDISA) and a professor of the Master’s in Management of Health Centers and Services taught at the University of Burgos.
