The Junta de Castilla y León, through the Public Society of Infrastructures and Environment (SOMACYL), has carried out the rehabilitation of 11 single-family homes destined for the public rental housing park in the town of Ciudad Rodrigo, Salamanca. Today, the keys have been handed over to the new tenants in an event that represents a significant advancement in the housing policy of the Community.

Located at Carretera Salamanca, 174 in Ciudad Rodrigo, they have been rehabilitated with an investment of 1.6 million euros funded through the REACT-EU Fund. With usable areas between 92 and 94 m², they are distributed over two floors (ground and first) and include a living room-kitchen, four bedrooms, toilet, bathroom, porches, terraces, and interior patios. Additionally, they come equipped with furnished kitchens and appliances, equipped bathrooms, and built-in wardrobes.

The rehabilitation project has significantly improved the thermal, acoustic, and habitability conditions of these homes, adapting them to the Technical Building Code. An external thermal insulation system (S.A.T.E) has been implemented, the roof and carpentry have been renewed, and a heating system has been installed through community biomass boilers. Furthermore, solar photovoltaic energy generation has been incorporated to reduce electricity consumption costs. Thanks to these improvements, they have obtained an A energy rating.

These rehabilitated homes will become part of the public rental park managed by SOMACYL, with priority for individuals under 36 years old, in line with the strategy of the Junta de Castilla y León to promote access to housing for this group.
