The Department of Industry, Commerce, and Employment, through the Public Employment Service of Castilla y León (Ecyl), announced today a historic increase in the budget of the Integrated Local Employment Plan (PLANIEL 2025), which will reach 37,241,000 euros. This amount, representing an increase of over 9 million euros from the initial budget, will enable the hiring of more than 3,850 unemployed individuals by the local entities of the Community, consolidating the newly created local employment program as the local employment promotion program with the highest economic volume in history.
The announcement comes during the visit of the Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Employment, Leticia García, to Alcañices (Zamora), where she had the opportunity to supervise the work carried out by the students of the mixed training and employment program «Angueira Verde 2025.» This initiative is a clear example of the successful collaboration between the Junta de Castilla y León and local entities for the creation of employment and the improvement of rural environments.
The Integrated Local Employment Plan, whose initial call was launched on April 9 with a budget of 28 million euros, aims to promote the temporary hiring of unemployed individuals to facilitate access to the labor market for groups with greater insertion difficulties, providing them with work experience that enhances their professional skills and future employment opportunities.
Simultaneously, the workers hired by local entities, with the financial contribution of the Junta, carry out works and services of general and social interest, improving public spaces and service provision in the environment, contributing to economic dynamism and the use of endogenous resources, while supporting local entities in the development of tasks within their competence.
The additional budgetary effort made by the Department of Industry, Commerce, and Employment, published today in Bocyl, responds to the high demand for applications submitted by local entities, which exceeded the initial forecasts. The Junta increases the available credit in order to respond to all applications submitted in a timely manner, ensuring that this incentive for job creation reaches the entire territory of Castilla y León, especially rural areas.
A commitment to rural areas with over 3,200 jobs in municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants
It is worth noting that a large part of the jobs created through this new plan are generated in rural areas, as out of the more than 3,850 contracts to be formalized, over 3,200 will be carried out in municipalities with fewer than 5,000 inhabitants. The minister emphasized that this type of initiative is crucial for consolidating population in rural areas and contributing to social cohesion by providing employment opportunities to groups with greater employability difficulties, such as individuals over 45, people with disabilities, women, and long-term unemployed individuals.
The head of the Department emphasized during her visit to Alcañices the importance of active employment policies developed in collaboration with local entities, which are a fundamental pillar for reaching the entire territory. In this regard, the minister recalled that, in addition to the Integrated Employment Plan, the Department has other important local employment programs and mixed training and employment programs like the one visited today in Alcañices, also endowed with another 38 million euros in the entire community, large-scale plans in which the Autonomous Administration and local corporations come together to generate job opportunities where they are most needed.
Improvement of public spaces and tourism opportunities in Alcañices
The «Angueira Verde 2025» program in Alcañices is a 6-month, 900-hour mixed training and employment program that started on February 1, 2025, with 8 students. Participants will obtain the professional certificate in auxiliary activities in nurseries and gardens, in addition to having a work contract and professional experience that will facilitate their future employability.
The project being carried out in Alcañices aims to restructure, condition, and landscape the path that connects the recreational area of Palazuelo with the urban center of the municipality, improving pedestrian accessibility and increasing open and healthy spaces, which will contribute to the tourism offer and generate social benefits. For the development of this project, the City Council of Alcañices has received a grant of 111,407 euros from the Junta de Castilla y León.
The minister, who thanked the collaboration of the municipalities in these initiatives, congratulated the mayor of Alcañices, David Carrión, for his commitment to employment, and reiterated the commitment of the Junta de Castilla y León to job creation, equal opportunities, and municipalism, commitments that are reflected in concrete and effective measures to strengthen the economic dynamism of the territory, promote employment, and improve public services.
