The XXIV edition of the provincial pinchos competition, which will take place between June 13 and 22, seeks the representative from Salamanca who, by winning the ‘Pincho de Oro’ category, will attend the regional pinchos competition of Castilla y León, organized by the regional Confederation of Hospitality and Tourism and the Junta de Castilla y León.
Oroviejo restaurant, winner of the Pincho de Oro 2024, hosted the presentation of a new edition on Friday morning, with which the Association of Hospitality Entrepreneurs of Salamanca aims to promote «gastronomic excellence in relation to the pinchos made in the hospitality establishments of Salamanca and the province, and thus generate added value to our tourism offer,» as indicated by the Association.
The winner of the Pincho de Oro, as emphasized by the association of hoteliers, will also participate in the INTUR Fair alongside the rest of the chefs from the community, in an exhibition for tourism professionals, at the Junta’s stand and will attend the National Pinchos Competition organized by the Confederation of Hospitality Entrepreneurs of Spain.
The 24 participating establishments (20 from the capital and four from the province) can compete in the categories of Pincho Popular -this year called Pincho Fàcyl-, Pincho de Oro, and Pincho Maridado con Mahou.
All participants also have the opportunity to win the Pincho Popular award, although they must keep it in their establishment available to the public from June 13 to 22 so that customers can evaluate each creation themselves.
Customers can vote through the QR code provided for this activity, and the winner will be the one with the highest rating.
To compete for the Pincho de Oro, once the route is completed, on June 24, at the Gastronomic Innovation Center of the Chamber of Commerce, the pinchos will be presented to a jury of experts who will vote based on several criteria.
The jury consists of Rocío Parra, executive chef of the Michelin-starred restaurant ‘En la Parra’; the winner of the Pincho de Oro from the I Tapas and Pinchos Championship of Castilla y León, organized by Hosturcyl, the Azul Mediterráneo establishment in Valladolid; the winner of the Pincho de Plata, the La Jamada establishment in Burgos, and Sara Cámara, a chef from Salamanca and winner of the Pincho de Bronce.
Finally, those selected by the jury can also compete for the «Best Pincho Maridado con Cerveza 2025» award. A professional from Grupo Mahou will taste each pincho paired with a beer and decide the winner of this award.
