
Salamanca’s Mayor, Carlos García Carbayo, has congratulated Club Atlético Salamanca-Caja Rural for their promotion to the Honor Division in the Spanish Championship of Clubs of First Division, the third time in their history, held on June 14 in Soria. During a reception at the Salamanca City Hall, he highlighted the «talent and quality» of the male team. «We are very proud of this franjinegra feat,» he stated. Also present at this event were representatives of the female teams.
During his speech, he praised the brilliant trajectory that the team has accomplished throughout the season, benefiting from the fact that the first two rounds of the national tournament took place at the Helmántico athletics track. «Our city has been their talisman, and the athletes felt the warmth of the public,» he pointed out.
García Carbayo stated that the champions are a «faithful reflection of the extraordinary and insatiable sporting talent of Salamanca,» performing at a high level in national and international events. With ages ranging from 17 to 30 years old, the national title comes after four years of hard work, guided by the strategic vision of their coaches and the club’s board, the mayor emphasized.
Furthermore, he referred to sports clubs as a «strong link» in a city that promotes sports at any age. In this regard, he recalled that the Salamanca City Council has collaboration agreements with over a hundred sports clubs, including Atlético Salamanca-Caja Rural, supporting them in their daily activities and event organization, thus advancing Salamanca as a preferred destination for sports tourism, García Carbayo stated.
