Burgos native Diego González, leading the ‘Tiempos Líquidos’ project with Laura Rodríguez, will represent Spain at the World Sommelier Championship organized by the International Sommelier Association (ASI), taking place in Portugal next year.
This decision was made by experts from the Union of Spanish Sommelier Associations at the XXX National Championship ‘Tierra de Sabor’, where a total of 51 sommeliers from all over Spain participated, including 12 from Castilla y León, with three of them ranking among the top ten in the competition.
Support for the wine sector
For the seventh consecutive year, Tierra de Sabor has sponsored this championship, reaffirming its commitment to promoting the agrifood and wine sector of Castilla y León.
The brand was actively involved in the entire event, from graphic and audiovisual materials to a notable tasting session titled «Zarcillo and territory: the exaltation of diversity,» led by Laura Rodríguez, co-founder of Tiempos Líquidos and recognized as the Best Sommelier at the 2024 International Wine Challenge Merchant Awards.
Furthermore, ‘Tierra de Sabor’ has enhanced the visibility of the championship through interviews on Gourmets TV and, in collaboration with Grupo Gourmets, offered a final cocktail exclusively made with products certified by the brand.
An established event in the Spanish wine culture
The Spanish Sommelier Championship has cemented its position as a national benchmark in the sommelier field. Its thirtieth edition not only showcased professional talent but also served as a platform to advocate for the excellence of agrifood products from Castilla y León.
