The Salamanca City Council is organizing the VI Municipal Band and/or Soloists Contest aimed at musicians from the province with the objective of «giving visibility and promoting local talent» and offering them «a unique opportunity» to boost their careers.
Interested parties can register from April 1 to May 1 with an original theme, without versions or discriminatory content, when at least 75 percent of the group members are registered in a municipality of the province prior to January 1 of this year.
The contest will be held in three elimination phases, in which the jury will select ten bands in the first phase who will receive a studio recording of the submitted contest theme, in the second phase, four of these will be chosen to have three days of recording to produce a theme of their choice, and in the third phase, three finalists will be selected to compete in «the grand final» to be held on October 3 at Sala B in the capital.
The prizes of the contest will include a full album recording for the winning band, as well as a promotional concert in 2026, a performance at the Salamanca fairs, and a studio photoshoot.
Additionally, the second semifinalist band will receive a full album recording, and the third will receive the recording of an EP with a maximum of five songs, as reported by the Salamanca City Council in a statement collected by Europa Press.
The jury will be composed of two representatives from the Salamanca City of Culture and Knowledge Foundation and three individuals linked to the musical, artistic, and cultural sector of the city, while the results will be announced through the Foundation’s website.
