The mayor of Salamanca, Carlos García Carbayo, presented today the concert program for the Ferias and Fiestas, which will take place from September 7 to 15, and the autumn music program to establish Salamanca as a musical and cultural tourist destination.
The program for this year’s fairs will kick off on Saturday in September, with a performance by the La Fórmula orchestra in Plaza de la Concordia.
On Sunday, September 7, the winner of the last edition of the Municipal Band Contest, Benbow, will kick off the concerts at Plaza Mayor. Following the traditional fireworks, it will be time for Siempre Así, a group with a career of over 30 years, 16 albums on the market, a million copies sold throughout their career, and over a thousand concerts in Spain and Latin America. Their repertoire is part of the soundtrack of millions of people.
On Monday, September 8, Plaza Mayor will host a concert by Rosario Flores, who has returned to the stage to present her new album, «Universo de Ley,» in a tour that summarizes more than three decades of musical career and where she will perform all her greatest hits. With over 33 years of career, fifteen albums, thousands of concerts, 12 platinum records, 3 Ondas Awards, 3 Latin Grammys, and a Gold Medal for Fine Arts Merit, Rosario is a living legend of Spanish music, one of the most beloved and respected artists by the public.
In 2025, Medina Azahara bids farewell definitively to the stages, putting an end to a legendary career that has marked Andalusian rock for over four decades. With a final tour full of emotion, entitled «Todo tiene su fin,» the group pays tribute to all those who have accompanied them since their beginnings, touring the great hits that have shaped their history. As part of this tour, they will make a stop at Plaza Mayor in Salamanca on Tuesday, September 9.
On Wednesday, September 10, Plaza Mayor will turn into a dance floor to the rhythm of Dani Moreno «El Gallo» and San Bernardino, two of the most listened to music radio presenters in Spain with the show Los 40Sessions.
On Thursday, September 11, the City Council of Salamanca has scheduled two concerts at Plaza Mayor. The first will be by Ultraligera, an alternative rock band emerged in 2021, whose lyrics tell stories about wayward characters and their travels, with musical influences ranging from indie to grunge. They have sold out all their concerts on their tour of venues and will be present at the main national festivals throughout 2025. This concert is sponsored by Caja Rural de Salamanca, to which the mayor has expressed his gratitude for their continuous collaboration with the cultural and festive programming of the city. The second concert will be performed by Siloé, who is establishing themselves as the band with the most projection in the music scene. They released their first album «La Verdad» in 2016, followed by «La Luz» in 2018 and «Metrópolis» in 2020. The album was reissued in May 2021 as «Metrópolis 2.0.» In 2023, the band became the image of Castilla y León, along with their song «Nada que se parezca a ti.» Last year, the group released their latest album, «Santa Trinidad,» with numerous sold-out shows throughout Spain, clearly demonstrating their status as one of the most important groups in the national independent pop and rock scene.
On Friday, September 12, singer Marta Santos will perform at Plaza Mayor. The Sevillian has gone from being an emerging young talent to a consolidated artist in record time thanks to her musical talent, delightful voice, and prodigious ability to connect with the audience. Marta sings about everyday life, love, heartbreak, family, land, and the little details of daily life. Always with a clear, direct, and very close language. The release of «Algo Sencillito,» triple platinum record and Best Flamenco Song at the 2024 Odeón Awards, and the release of her first LP «Poquito a Poquito,» gold record in sales, marked a turning point in her career. Her first single with Warner Music, «La vida entera,» was not only certified as a platinum record this year but has already surpassed 34 million streams. This is followed by «Contigo,» which is already a gold record with over 16 million streams, and «Te Veo,» with 3 million.
On Saturday, September 13, two concerts are scheduled at Plaza Mayor. The first will be by Noan, a singer, songwriter, and one of the great promises of the new wave of Spanish pop as confirmed by some of his hits like «Me mata(s)» or «Superpoder,» which entered the top 50 viral on the Spotify Spain playlist. Noan has drawn from Spanish pop rock from the 2000s. Having achieved two gold records and being nominated for Best New Artist by Los40 last year, he is positioned as one of the young promises of the current music scene.
And the second concert will be headlined by the singer Lia Kali who, with the release of her debut album ‘Contra Todo Pronóstico,’ turned the music scene upside down with a collection of songs that the artist pulled out of her hat as a personal catharsis to heal the stumbles, sorrows, and fears of her daily life. After two years of almost uninterrupted touring on both sides of the Atlantic, Lia Kali faces a new journey in 2025 that has the sky as an immediate and irrevocable horizon and a new album, ‘Kaelis,’ made up of a collection of new songs that the artist has not only borne for herself but in which the music is now indeed a gift for everyone.
The Swedish group Europe will perform for the first time in Salamanca on Sunday, September 14, and it will be the only free access concert they will offer in our country. For over four decades, Europe has been one of the most iconic and beloved rock bands in the world. Since its formation in 1979 in a humble neighborhood of Stockholm, Sweden, the band has captivated thousands of fans around the world thanks to its unmistakable talent and energy. They now arrive in Salamanca to make us have an unforgettable night. With the charismatic Joey Tempest on vocals, the virtuoso John Norum on guitar, the talented Mic Michaeli on keyboards, the versatile John Leven on bass, and Ian Haugland on drums, Europe has left an indelible mark on the music scene. Their third album, «The Final Countdown,» catapulted them to worldwide stardom with their eponymous anthem. The song became an instant hit, reaching number one in over 25 countries and selling millions of copies worldwide.
And José Mercé will be responsible for closing the event on Monday, September 15 with a very special tour dedicated to one of his most illustrious fellow countrymen, Manuel Alejandro, to whom he wants to dedicate his show by performing some of his most emblematic songs and taking them to various flamenco styles. He will be accompanied by his usual group with two flamenco guitars, three palmists, flamenco percussion, and adding an acoustic piano and a double bass that will bring a new sound to these well-known songs.
With 18 albums released since his debut in 1968, José Mercé has maintained the pure essence of flamenco singing and has mixed it with flamenco versions of songs by Manu Chao, Luis Eduardo Aute, Víctor Jara, Louis Armstrong, Pablo Milanés, the Pop Tops, and Joan Manuel Serrat, to establish himself as a key artist in Spanish music, breaking boundaries and taking his music not only to the flamenco audience but also reaching a younger audience, lovers of pop.
Local Music Groups
In addition to the performance at Plaza Mayor by the winner of the last edition of the Municipal Band Contest, Benbow, five other concerts by local groups have been scheduled at Elio Antonio de Nebrija Park.
On Monday, September 8, Nessa will perform, on Tuesday, September 9, The Third Rule, on Wednesday, September 10, the group TBMC will perform, on Friday, September 12, it will be the turn for Diego Jiménez, and on Sunday, September 14, the musical note will be provided by the group Ruido de fondo.
Nessa is a quintet that loves rock music, a group with clear points in its proposal: respect for the genre, and fun on and off the stage. Diego Jiménez is a musical group whose roots are in flamenco and fuse it with pop and salsa. With a long career playing at all kinds of events where they perform cover songs and their own songs.
Ruido de fondo is a rock band from Salamanca that plays their own hard rock songs, with various influences, especially from the rock of the 70s and 80s. After 15 years of inactivity, they returned to the scene in 2024 with a new album, «Que calle la gente,» which has a carefully crafted hard rock sound in Spanish. Their live performance surprises with its intensity and complicity with the audience.
Autumn Concerts
After the September fairs and festivities, the musical offering from the City Council of Salamanca continues with scheduled concerts of different styles.
At the CAEM, the concerts of Miguel Campello (October 4), Love Flamenco (November 29), South Carolina Gospel Choir (December 23), and Miguel Poveda (December 26) have been scheduled.
In Sala B, the concerts of Salamanca’s Bego Salazar (September 26), Carameloraro (October 24), and Sin sentido (November 21) will take place. In addition, performances by national and international groups are scheduled, such as: Saurom (October 17), All for metal (November 5), La Fuga (November 7), Malmö 040 (November 22), and Kaotiko (November 28).
At the Teatro Liceo, the concerts of Juan Valderrama, with his tour «Historias de la copla» (October 24), and Rafa Sánchez, the former singer of La Unión, on October 31, are scheduled.
At the Multiusos Sánchez Paraíso, the concerts of Maka with his tour «Aura» (September 27), Manuel Turizo, with his 201 tour (October 8), Delaossa (November 8), and Los Pecos (November 15) are planned.
And finally, at the Palacio de Congresos, there will be a tribute to Ennio Morricone on December 14.
