The manager of the Public Employment Service of Castilla y León, Jesús Blanco, visited today the facilities of the company GAM Training Apoyo y Formación, located in the town of Villamañán in León, where a specific vocational training project with hiring commitment is being developed for a total of 45 workers.
This program aims to improve the training of unemployed workers and facilitate their access to employment with the professional qualification adapted to the job they will be performing. To achieve this, the Ecyl finances vocational training actions that meet the real needs of companies, within the companies themselves, with specific courses that involve the commitment to hire at least 50% of the participating students.
During the visit, Jesús Blanco was able to learn about the training project that the company is developing with the financial support of the Junta de Castilla y León through a grant of €127,800 to carry out three training actions for ‘Training of Mechanical Operators for Machinery Refabrication Plant’. These actions, each lasting 240 hours (200 theoretical and 40 practical), are scheduled to train 45 students in the company’s facilities and include the commitment to hire 24 of these students (8 for each training action).
The Ecyl manager emphasized that training for employment should serve to improve the necessary professional qualification of workers and valued the training program with hiring commitment as an effective tool to connect training with real employment, helping to align the needs of companies with the qualification of human capital, thus improving employment opportunities and the competitiveness of companies.
Blanco also highlighted the training project of this company as a significant example of the impact of active employment policies in rural areas. He described it as «admirable» that an initiative focused on circular production and recycling, with the development of a machinery refabrication plant, is being carried out in a small town like Villamañán in León, generating employment in the area.
In this regard, he recalled that the GAM entity had already carried out training actions under this program in the previous call, training 42 other students and subsequently incorporating 22 of them into its workforce. Thus, the León-based company will train a total of 87 workers, hiring 46 of them, in the past two years.
The GAM Training training program is one of the six developed by companies and entities under the current call for this program. The Public Employment Service of Castilla y León is investing €290,200 to train a total of 97 students with a commitment to hire 50 of them. In this way, public-private collaboration contributes to improving employment and meeting the needs of the productive fabric.
Finally, Blanco pointed out that the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Employment is clearly committed, through various programs, to ensuring a vocational training offer for employment adapted to the new needs of companies so that workers and companies can successfully face the current and future challenges of the production system.
