PAU UPDATES
The new PAU introduces significant updates compared to the previous edition, as explained by the Technical Manager of Organization and Development of the University of Salamanca exams, Eva Lahuerta, in a statement reported by Europa Press.
The first update is the elimination this year of the option to choose between two exam models, as was the case since the pandemic. From now on, there will be a single model per subject, although there will be a medium-high internal optionality in each exam that allows for a degree of choice among most questions.
The second update is that the exam reinforces its competency nature, with at least 20-25 percent of questions aimed at evaluating skills such as critical thinking, creativity, and argumentation ability.
It is also ensured that 70 percent of the questions will be open-ended or semi-constructed, promoting reasoned development of answers. Another update is the standardization of correction criteria at the national level.
In all exams, spelling, grammatical correction, text coherence, and cohesion will be valued, with errors penalized up to ten percent of the grade.
In subjects like Spanish Language, penalties can reach up to two points. Lastly, grades obtained in the mandatory phase of the PAU will have indefinite validity. However, grades from the voluntary phase, aimed at improving the admission grade, will remain valid for three academic years.
